Compton Presents Webinar, Co-chairs Session on Additive Manufacturing

photo of Brett ComptonThis summer, Associate Professor Brett Compton will have the opportunity to share insight about his research in additive manufacturing with engineers from East Tennessee, across the US, and China.

In June, he will be presenting a Frontiers of Ceramics and Glass Webinar for the East Tennessee section of the American Ceramic Society. The webinar, entitled “Opportunities for additive manufacturing of ceramic composites using material extrusion,” will include a brief history of material extrusion additive manufacturing and additive manufacturing of ceramic materials as well as a discussion on the current challenges.

In July, Compton will be co-chairing the “Additive Manufacturing and Beyond” session at the 2022 China-America Frontiers of Engineering Symposium. Sixty highly accomplished engineers from the US and China will attend the three-day symposium to learn about developments in cutting edge engineering technology.

US delegates will gather for the event in person at UC Irvine and Chinese delegates will participate remotely. According to the symposium’s website, the event is intended to facilitate international and cross-disciplinary research collaboration, promote the transfer of new techniques and approaches across disparate engineering fields, and encourage the creation of a transpacific network of world-class engineers.
