Associate Professor Andrew Dickerson’s research paper on maple samaras has been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
Dickerson’s work, “Maple samaras recover autorotation following raindrop collisions,” details the collision dynamics for impact regions across the samara body and the drop-shedding mechanisms that samaras exhibit to return to autorotation.
PNAS, a peer-reviewed journal of the National Academy of Sciences, is one of the world’s most-cited and comprehensive multidisciplinary scientific journals, publishing more than 3,500 research papers annually.
