Singh Receives Young Investigator Award

Headshot of Prashant SinghPrashant Singh, an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Biomedical Engineering, has been selected to receive the 2025 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Bergles-Rohsenow Young Investigator Award in Heat Transfer.

The award, which was established in 2003, recognizes a young engineer under 36 years old who is committed to pursuing research in heat transfer and demonstrates the potential to make significant contributions to the field. Singh is the first faculty member from the University of Tennessee to ever receive the award in the 22-year history.

“I am honored and humbled to receive the prestigious ASME Bergles-Rohsenow Young Investigator Award in Heat Transfer. I thank my nominator, support letter writers, and other mentors, for inspiring me in this journey,” Singh said. “Many thanks to the ASME K-3 Honors and Awards Committee for this outstanding recognition. It is an amazing feeling to be placed in such a distinguished company of leaders in heat transfer research.”

Singh was recognized for “outstanding contributions to the fundamental understanding of thermal transport in architecture materials for high temperature heat exchanger applications, and for advancements in experimental techniques for non-intrusive thermal diagnostics.”

Singh will be presented with the award, along with $1,000, a bronze medal, and a certificate, during the 2025 Summer Heat Transfers Conference July 8-10 in Westminster, Colorado.

“This award provides great encouragement to me to continue pursuing challenging areas in thermal sciences and advance the wonderful world of thermal transport in a variety of energy sectors,” Singh said.
