Kivanc Ekici’s time as interim head of MABE officially ended on August 1, and today is his first day back as professor and director of MABE’s graduate program.
Ekici started serving as interim last December when Department Head Matthew Mench was asked to serve as interim vice chancellor of research and engagement.
Ekici did a fabulous job leading the department over the past eight months especially when faced with the many unexpected challenges and uncertainties caused by the pandemic.
“My sincere thanks to Kivanc Ekici for stepping forward and doing an amazing job as interim department head for MABE for the last eight months,” said Dean Janis Terpenny. “He has been a true servant leader, providing the calm and strength that has been so very helpful throughout an unprecedented period in not only our college and university history, but that of the nation. The department has been resourceful, flexible, and productive. Thank you, Professor Ekici, and to all of the faculty, staff, and students who continue to uphold excellence.”
The department and college are very thankful for Ekici and wish him the best as he transitions back to his faculty position.
