photo of Jiaqi WangJiaqi Wang, PhD candidate in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering, is one of nine students who recently received a Yates Dissertation Fellowship from UT’s Graduate School.

Wang, the only engineering student to receive the fellowship, was nominated by his advisor Assistant Professor Seungha Shin.

“Since joining my group three and a half years ago, Jiaqi has accomplished a lot, and shown exceptional productivity in research publications with authoring ten peer-reviewed journal manuscripts and eight papers in leading journals,” said Shin. “He is hard-working, a proven leader, an excellent researcher, and one of the best students I have worked with. This fellowship is well-deserved.”

Wang’s research focuses on accelerated multi-scale computation for mass and thermal transport in metallic materials and he plans to complete his dissertation next spring.

The Yates Fellowship was established to encourage, recognize, and support outstanding graduate students who are completing their dissertation.
