MABE Assistant Professor Damiano Baccarella is a new member of AIAA’s ground testing technical committee. The membership will run for one year and may be renewed up to three consecutive years. Comprised of 50 members, the committee is responsible for test evaluation of vehicles, structures, and aerospace systems, subsystems, and components in ground-based facilities such as wind tunnels, environmental facilities, and engineer test facilities. Baccarella has more than 10 years of experience in experimental aerothermodynamics research. He is the founder and director of the Hypersonics and Propulsion Laboratory at UT and is currently supervising the construction of a 500 kW arcjet wind tunnel. As a committee member, Baccarella is expected to attend AIAA’s SciTech and Aviation conferences.
