Hu Asked to Join AASF as a Fellow

Anming Hu, an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering, has been invited to join the Asian American Scholar Forum (AASF) as a fellow.

The process to become a fellow requires nomination by an existing fellow member and approval by the AASF board. Many current fellow members are academic leaders in engineering, science, medicine, and the arts.

Hu’s research expertise involves nanomanufacturing, laser processing and 3D microprinting, nanojoining, nanoelectronics, and nanotechnology for optoelectronics, energy, and environment.

AASF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting belonging, academic openness and freedom, and equality. AASF recently established the “Asian American Pioneer Medal to honor the fundamental contributions of Asian American pioneers who have transformed lives across the country. The inaugural symposium at Stanford University attracted more than 1,300 attendees, including Nobel Prize laureates, Turing Award winners, and leaders from academia and industry worldwide.

Along with being a fellow of AASF, Hu is the vice president of the International Association for Nanojoining and Microjoining Association (NMJ), and a member of the Laser Institute of America (LIA), International Institute of Welding (IIW), and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
